Last weekend, Justin and I woke up hungry and in the mood for a large breakfast. We decided to brave the tourists and head down to canal for Amazing Grace Bakery and Cafe. I have been there before for lunch and their pastries, but neither of us had been their for their breakfast. It was a 15 minute wait to get seated and the hostess said food time was 40 minutes. We decided to stay since we were in no hurry and it was beautiful outside. While we were waiting, I ordered a carmel latte over ice. The barista must've been new because he steamed the milk and poured the piping hot latte over ice. It was luke warm and tasted so burnt... I didn't say anything though because I am not one to complain at restaurants. They were super busy and didn't want to have the poor boy spend time to remake it. But to my surprise when we got called for our table he caught me and said that he misunderstood the order. He insisted that he remake it for me at no charge. Now THAT is good service. It probably took a lot of courage for him to speak up and admit his mistake, which I applaud him for. Just that act alone will have me coming back to try more of their selection. I was shocked at how many unique options they had on their menu! Everything sounded delicious, but I finally picked the basement breakfast sandwich and Justin decided on the yukon scramble. Mine was delicious! I had never had a soft boiled egg before so that was a new experience. Kinda like a poached egg but a little firmer. The portabella cap was my favorite part. If you don't like mushrooms definitely stay away from this sandwich! Justin said his was good also. He loved the swiss cheese cream sauce. I snuck a bite and I'd have to agree - it was out of this world! While we waited for our food, I picked up one of their books on the book shelf, Times Great People of the 20th Century. Somehow I am related to Charles Lindberg on my mom's side so it was cool reading his page. It was fun to look at all the old pictures and read the stories! Amazing Grace has a very retro-hip vibe featuring brightly colored tables and decor with one-of-a-kind artworks. There was even live music for us to enjoy too! Everything was quirky but yet somehow all went together 😋 Overall Amazing Grace was great! If you are in the Duluth area I definitely recommend you check out their breakfast. Their food is fresh, homemade and relatively cheap. I also posted their lunch menu below, and if you click on the pictures it'll bring you to their site! I can't wait to go back for some of their bread. Their baguette sounds to die for 👅💦
