Nothing says summer more than hot, humid weather, baseball, cookouts, and graduation parties! All of that and more was included in this past weekend. Starting on Friday I made my way back to my hometown to go to a doctor's appointment and to a chiropractor appointment. Luckily it was a nice day out to drive and I made good time. When I drive I get so sleepy, no matter what time of day or what the weather. My solution is to have energizing snacks, water, and a good playlist! I lately switched from iTunes to Spotify. It is slightly cheaper and for students they offer a discount! I picked out some of my favorite artists (Queen B & Adele) along with up-beat genres. If I get suuuuper tired I usually call Justin or my parents to talk. I made it safe and sound just in time for my chiropractor appointment. Now I know that not everybody "believes" in chiropractors, but I swear by mine. I have been going to her ever since I was young. Since I always carry a lot of stress in my shoulders and neck, I often get tension headaches. Not to mention all that computer time and bad studying posture adding to it. Immediately after she realigns my neck it is instant relief. I haven't found a good one around college, so when I go home I always make an appointment. I recommend you look around and find one that you trust and feel comfortable with! I also got fitted for new orthotics! I realized during my internship that standing on your feet for 8 hours straight is not comfortable. It's important to take care of your feet because they are the foundation of your body. I have worn orthotics since I began sports back in high school, but haven't gotten a new pair for over 6 years. My feet have probably changed a lot since then... My uncle from Washington was also home visiting! Him, my mom, and some family friends went to the Twins game on Saturday. I usually try and make at least one game a year. Even though the Twins haven't been doing well this season we still had fun! They ended up losing 15-4 :( I still can't get over how beautiful Target Field is! After we got back, I went over to my dad's and he grilled out on the patio. It was a perfect night. We enjoyed hotdogs, watermelon, lemon water, and coleslaw. Now if that doesn't say summer I don't know what does! This is Ceasar! He is technically my dad's dog but I love him just as much :) Since it was warm out, my dad filled his pool with water and he splashed around all night. He enjoyed his supper outside as well! Last on the agenda before I left was my best friend's graduation party! She had a beautiful day and lots of people were there to help her celebrate. Her mom did a great job on all the decorations and food. I had a turkey sandwich, 2 fruit kabobs, some pasta salad, and carrots. Her mom makes these delicious bars that have caramel and m&m's. Every time I can't get over how good they taste! I have the recipe and will have to try and make them sometime soon for you. I am sure they won't turn out as good though ;) Before I left, I had to play a round of bags (short for bean bags). I have also heard it called corn hole, but whatever it's the same darn game xD We had quite the close game, but I ended up losing. Before hitting the road I grabbed a water. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate in this warm weather! I made it back safely and was exhausted after such a busy weekend. It was a great kickoff to summer with family and friends! Enjoy your 4th of July weekend!
