Isn't it funny how when you say, "I am going to Washington," or "I am from Washington," you have to clarify Washington the state or Washington D.C.? I always assume Washington state but I am a little bias 😏 My uncle and aunt have lived in Washington for as long as I can remember. Numerous times they have came to Minnesota to visit, but finally this summer I had the opportunity to visit them! My mother, brother, and I flew out and stayed 7 days visiting and exploring. Be prepared...I took lots of pictures and am excited to share them all! Our flight went well and landed in Seattle where my uncle was waiting. I was so amazed at how much cooler it was compared to Minnesota! We were extremely hungry and decided to have lunch first. We decided on The Pike Brewing Company. It reminded me so much of Grandma's restaurant in Duluth! The walls were covered in memorabilia and had many places to sit. Their menu highlighted many of the west coast specials such as salmon, dungeness crab, and clams. I decided to get the Wild Alaksa Salmon S.L.T. It was a spin on the classic B.L.T. but with salmon. I was expecting "flakes" of salmon sprinkled on the sandwich, but boy was I wrong! It had the thickest salmon fillet ever! I could barely fit it in my mouth, but it was so delicious! I gave most of my fries to my brother and mom, but they were good also. Two thumbs up and definitely try it out if you get the chance! Next, we walked over to the infamous market center. I wish that I could live in Seattle just to have the ability to go to the this market every day. The people, the food, the vendors...everything was so bright and inviting. We even got to witness the workers at the Pike Place Fish Company sing and throw fish! YUMMMMMMMM!👅 💦 Anything you could imagine... from fresh fruits and vegetables, to dried pasta and flowers! Of course I had to try a cannoli😍 Also if you didn't know, Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks! You better believe I went and saw the original store. It was like the heavens opened up and the angels started singing... We walked around Seattle for a bit longer before heading out on the ferry. We were exhausted! I don't know if it was all the people, the noise, the time change, the traffic, or a combination of everything, but on our way to the ferry my anxiety was through the roof. I finally had to put ear plugs in to calm myself down a little. When I'm anxious its like my nervous system is on crack and all my senses are amplified. I stayed in the car while on the ferry and got re-centered. Did I miss out on some good scenery? Yes. But the time to myself was well worth it. We reached Port Townsend and talked with my aunt and uncle for awhile before calling it a day. We had so much planned and needed a full nights rest for what was in store! More details in the next post😊
