The world moves at such a fast pace that we barely recognize ourselves in it. We often are on automatic pilot. Our culture also promotes always being something better, bigger, and different. Could this be the root of many of our insecurities as humans? Why not promote ourselves as we are and build self compassion to accept ourselves as we are instead of constantly trying to chase new goals all the time? Sometimes we are tricked into admiring people, putting them on pedestals believing they are far better than we are. Who you look up to has great impact on the life choices you make. If you are trying to emulate someone has values that don't align with your own values, are you admiring the wrong person? I admire military men and women for the sacrifices they make for our freedom and democracy.
I admire Mr. Houle and my grandpa Haakonson for showing me what aging can be and that I don't have to fear getting old. I admire Elle Lindquist (@elle.lindquist) for her authenticity and being a postiive role model for the mother I want to be someday. I admire Julia Parzyck (@fitfatandallthat) because she demonstrates what self-love and self confidence really looks like.
